Tips of the
Month : January 2012 |
| |
It's a brand new year but we are still in for lots of cold weather. Here are some important things to keep in mind: |
Remember to monitor humidity levels in your new home (normal range should be from 30% – 40%). Excessive humidity can lead to condensation on windows and if left, can result in mold growth. Wipe up condensation regularly to avoid this.
Remember to keep your dehumidifier running even during the winter months to stay within the normal limits. Use your bath fans and kitchen range hood fan at all times. |
Check your roof often for excessive snow and/or ice. Try to keep vents and lower roofs clear to reduce ice damming. If you notice ice build up in your lower eaves troughs, try tossing a handful of ice melt inside them to reduce the possibility of over flows and leaks. |
Check your dryer duct for lint build up. Pull your dryer away from the wall, remove the clamp and clear out any lint. Hint – a shop vac comes in very handy for this task! |
Remember to clear snow away from cold cellar vents and all external vents! |
Keep your porch and walkway looking brand new by putting away the ice salt for good. Try using a "blue" ice melt, sand, or even lawn fertilizer as an alternative. |

The Cook Homes Customer Care Team and all the Staff and Management at Cook Homes would like to wish you a very happy new year! |
